Kris said we should have a blog to chronicle the creation of our novel, Trident of Merrow, so here 'tis!

Kris and I are a few scenes away from finishing The Trident of Merrow. We would've finished it last night, possibly, if we weren't so Avatarded. ;p But it was totally worth it. Kris is starting to compile possibilities for agents. With any luck I'll be proving my teachers and classmates right when they said, "We'll get a novel out of this one," in high school. Cross those fingers!.

Unfortunately it's not in stores yet, so I can't implore you all to rush to Borders and snap up Carved in Granite, but today is the release date. You can order it on SciArt Media's website:http://www. sciartmedia. com/carvedingranite
My story "The Price of Longing" is one of the short stories in this collection. Here's the description (from my FictionPress page): "A retelling of the Rapunzel story. The witch, unable to come to terms with her daughter growing up, imprisons the girl in a tower. But fighting against nature causes events to grow out of her control."
Regardless of where/when you buy it, I'll be happy to sign your copy. :) You never know... I am working on a novel with Kris right now, so when we get our seven-figure book deal and get super-famous, you'll have a valuable signed copy of the very first thing I've ever had published.;) So check it out!

I haven't written much lately. In fact, it had been weeks since I wrote anything other than e-mails or blogs (at least I'm still writing blogs, I figure). Last weekend when I was home at my parents' house, I spent at least an hour or so working on "Bonds," my latest (and probably last for a while) Naruto fanfic.
Today Garin had to go to work a bit early, and the time he was due to get up was in half an hour after the point where I finished the dishes. If I started working out, I'd be done and wanting a shower at the same time he had to go into the shower and get going. So I decided to sit down and write.
I got so into it that I got partway into writing the scene I'd been dreading writing since I started writing this thing.
It's just preliminary crap... I'm definitely going to polish it up before it's added onto what's already on Fanfiction.net, but it feels good to at least get a basework down. :) And to know that I can squeeze some writing in on a regular day. I'd been hesitant because I always feel I need a few hours of complete solitude, where I have nothing pressing coming up. Turns out I usually need at least an hour because once I get my momentum up, it's hard to stop. But if I wait for things to be "perfect" it seems like it'll never get going. And sometimes the urgency of having other things waiting to be done helps, somehow. Just like how deadlines and restrictions and other things you'd think would mess you up sometimes help you become more creative and driven, because you have to push against them and work around them.
Speaking of deadlines, I have to take off for work!
